Downtown and the older streets have houses from the 1920s through the 1970s, and many of them have never had the kitchen redone properly — an added peninsula, a dishwasher squeezed in beside the sink, one outlet per wall.
The bathrooms have the same story: a 5x8 layout with a tub nobody uses, a vanity too shallow for the sink, and tile laid directly on drywall. We rebuild those rooms from the framing out so the waterproofing is actually correct.

What the work usually includes
Cabinet layout and installation, countertops and backsplash, sink and fixture replacement, tile work, under-cabinet and recessed lighting, ventilation, and in bathrooms full waterproofing with a proper shower pan, cement board and a vapour-tight assembly.

What drives the cost

How long it takes
A kitchen is 3–5 weeks on site if the layout stays, 6–9 weeks if walls and plumbing move. A bathroom is 2–3 weeks. We do not run two wet rooms at once in an occupied house unless you have a second bathroom to fall back on.

Cement board or a bonded waterproof membrane over the whole wet area, a pre-sloped pan, and a flood test before tile. Tile directly on drywall is the reason most bathroom failures happen, and it is the thing we refuse to repeat.
If it is your only bathroom, plan on 2–3 weeks with a temporary arrangement. We can often keep a working toilet until the last few days.
